Westline Trading Company has been in existence for over 35 years. Westline is known throughout Australia and New Zealand as the specialists in the manufacture of sheep shearers denim pants with the fit, comfort and line which is preferred by many shearers and farmers. Our loyal sewers have been part of the Westline family for 16 years and have many a story to tell. Amongst our customers are those who bought their first pair of shearers pants 20 years ago and still continue to reorder today. We have grandfathers who wore Westline and who have in turn passed the name Westline down to their sons and grandsons. We have customers from as far and wide as France and the UK who have come across the Westline brand while shearing in Australia and New Zealand and have been loyal to the brand ever since. Last week we received a call from a customer in Switzerland wanting to place an order. When asked how he had heard of Westline, he said that he had bought his Westline pants while shearing in New Zealand some years ago and had reordered over and over again. It has been through word of mouth of fellow shearers that so many people have come to know the name and the product which has remained of the same high quality standard since Westline’s inception in the 1970s. Colin MacGregor, the Training and Shearing Manager of British Wool, reminds us that he wore Westline shearing pants when Westline was the only company producing pants made especially for shearers.
As the proud new owners of Westline, we would like to introduce ourselves to you. Ron began his career some 40 years ago as a sewing machine mechanic in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia where he learnt his skills on various industrial sewing machines. This set him in good stead throughout his career as he went on to become production manager of a clothing company and has since worked and owned clothing companies manufacturing and supplying major chain stores with men’s, lady’s and children’s apparel. Ron’s knowledge as a production person has given him the edge when it comes to garment construction.
My involvement in the industry has been in sales where I had my own fabric indenting company dealing with international fabric mills. The years of experience in selling fabric has given me a good understanding of the requirements of clothing factories and their customers expectations.
Our factory is geared to supply our customers with a quality ‘made to measure’ product which our present customers agree works well for them and that this way they are able to enjoy the comfort and the fit they require. The variations of the shearers pants which we offer our customers include zip ankles, diamond crotch, front pockets, back pockets, money pocket and kiwi patches – these are available at a small extra cost. We offer short length and extra length and we also carry the standard shearers sizes. The fabric is of a superior denim quality developed especially for shearers pants.
Ron and I are committed to maintaining the high quality standards of the Westline products as well as ensuring a friendly customer service. We wish to thank those who have supported Westline in the past and hope that Ron and I can continue to develop new relationships with future customers.
